About Us And FAQs

About us and faqs

A Very Special Walk (AVSW) is the signature fundraising event of Autism Resource Centre (Singapore), running since 2005. Originally launched as a walk, the event has evolved over the years to include various activities, including walks, runs, concerts, carnivals, and even movie treats!

This year, AVSW 2025 goes fully online with an engaging photo challenge concept called A Very Special Photo Challenge.

As ARC(S) journeys with the children we serve into adulthood, we are building and expanding services to meet their growing needs in employment, lifelong learning, independent living training, and residential housing options.

Funds raised from AVSW will go towards supporting these vital services to empower adults on the autism spectrum to lead independent and meaningful lives beyond their school years.

You may sign up for the online photo challenge and raise funds for ARC’s programmes and services. Alternatively, you may make an outright donation to support our cause.

This year, AVSW 2025 goes fully online with A Very Special Photo Challenge. There will be no in-person events or activities accompanying the online challenge. Participants can enjoy the flexibility of joining from anywhere while supporting ARC(S) through their photo submissions and fundraising efforts.

Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) or ARC(S) is a not-for-profit charity based in Singapore. Started by a group of professionals and parent volunteers, ARC(S) is dedicated to serving children and adults on the autism spectrum through a wide range of services: Early Intervention, Pathlight School, Employability & Employment Centre, ARC Learning Academy, Student Enrichment, Social Leisure Club and our social enterprises, The Art Faculty and Professor Brawn.

A Very Special Photo Challenge is an online fundraising initiative by Autism Resource Centre (Singapore). Centered around the theme “Celebrating Everyday Connections,” the challenge highlights the simple yet meaningful bonds that bring people closer together.

Over six weeks, starting from 19 July, a new photo prompt will be introduced every Saturday. Participants can create a profile page on the AVSW website, capture photos according to the weekly topic, post them with thoughtful captions, and share their profile links with friends and family to raise funds. By joining, they help support vital programmes and services that empower individuals on the autism spectrum.

The challenge runs from 19 July to 31 August 2025, with one photo prompt released every Saturday, over six weeks. Participants capture a photo based on the prompt and its guidelines, then share it on their profile page and/or social media to rally support and donations from their family and friends.

Of course! The event is open to everyone of all ages! However, participants under the age of 18 years old are required to obtain consent from their parents/guardians before registering for the campaign. Their parents/guardians must also agree to the declaration stated on the registration page.

Challenge start and end date: 19 July to 31 August 2025

There are no strict deadlines for submitting photos for each prompt. You can complete and submit all the photos at your own pace, so long as everything is completed by 31 August 2025. There is no requirement to submit photos during the same week the prompts are released.

It is fine if you do not complete the entire challenge. You can submit photos for as many prompts as you are able to. All donations raised by you or your team during the campaign period will still go to ARC(S), and no deductions will be made even if you do not complete all the prompts.

Prompts will be announced on our website here as well as our social media pages. Follow us on our socials so you won’t miss any prompts!

Yes, feel free to submit multiple photos per prompt. The more creative, the better!

Not at all! This challenge is about creativity, raising autism awareness, and fundraising for a meaningful cause. Everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of photography experience.

You can view the amount you have raised on your profile or your team's profile page. The total donation amount that you or your team have raised will be updated daily, and all your supporters will be shown on the page.

Absolutely! Even if you choose not to participate in or complete the full challenge, you can still sign up and rally your friends and family to donate through your personal profile page. By participating, you agree that your submitted photos may be used in AVSW’s promotional materials, social media, and website content, with appropriate credit given where applicable. For more details, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
